8 motive să devii voluntar

Anul universitar doar ce a început și pentru unii dintre tineri acest lucru reprezintă momentul pentru un nou start, în timp ce se gândesc să ia in considerare ideea de a deveni voluntar ? În acest articol veți găsi 8 avantaje ale voluntariatului care sperăm să vă facă să luați cea mai buna decizie și să deveniți mai activi.

1. Împărtășești o pasiune

Știi să cânți la pian, să dansezi, să faci poze sau practici un anumit sport ? De ce să nu profiți de asta și să împărtășești cu ceilalți ? Să împarți ceva la care te pricepi și să te simți bine făcând asta va fi o plăcere atât pentru tine cât și pentru ceilalți. Astfel, datorită ție, cineva ar putea să își descopere pasiunea sau chiar drumul în viață. Chiar și vorbitul despre asta poate fi inspirational și deschizător de drumuri pentru cineva. Fă-ți pasiunea molipsitoare!

2. Îi ajuți pe ceilalți

Privește în jurul tău, în comunitatea în care trăiești și poate vei observa că cineva are nevoie de ajutor și  că ai putea să îi faci viața mai ușoară și mai fericită. Ca și voluntar, ar trebui să fi pregătit să îți împarți timpul cu ceilalți. Nu trebuie tot timpul să fie ceva semnificativ, câteodată poți doar să asculți povestea cuiva sau să dai o mână de ajutor. Ajutând pe cei din jurul nostru, este benefic nu doar pentru cei pe care îi ajuți, ci și pentru tine. Ajungi să cunoști oameni noi, să descoperi noi abilități, îți mărește încrederea în tine, respectul propriu și îți aduce fericire. Poți începe cu gesturi mici, precum căratul cumpărăturilor unui vecin în vârstă sau aplicatul ca voluntar la centrul comunitar. Audrey Hepburn a spus la un moment dat : “Pe măsură ce îmbătrânești, vei descoperi că ai două mâini – una pentru a te ajuta, cealaltă pentru a-i ajuta pe ceilalți. » Nu uita asta.

3. Faci o schimbare

Cu toții avem defecte și sunt momente când realizăm că nu ne putem controla. Făcând voluntariat te descoperi pe tine, îți descoperi abilitățile ascunse și înveți cum să fii un om mai bun, mai controlat. În plus, tot lucrând cu oameni, vei putea citi un om la prima vedere pentru că aici vei întâlni multe caractere diferite. Ai ocazia să lucrezi cu oameni, copii, bătrâni pe care îi vei ajuta într-un anume fel, la un moment dat. Fie că împreună cu organizația din care faci parte strângeți recuzite și îmbrăcăminte pentru copiii ce urmează să meargă la școală, fie că vizitați azilurile de bătrâni pentru a le duce mâncare și o vorbă bună, tu întreprinzi o schimbare în viața celor pe care îi ajuți și, în același timp, o schimbare în conștiința și modul tău de a vedea lucrurile.

Una dintre cele mai mari schimbări cu ajutorul voluntariatului este chiar asupra ta. Participând la diverse activități, unde sarcinile care îți revin sunt multiple, ești pus în situația de a descoperi abilități pe care nu erai conștient că le ai. De asemenea, ai ocazia să te dezvolți personal și profesional, astfel că, în momentul în care vei avea un loc de muncă, vei vedea că timpul că voluntar te-a pregătit într-o anumită măsură pentru viitorul profesional.

4. Te distrezi

Poate cea mai neștiută parte de cei mai mulți oameni este că voluntariatul nu este doar o muncă în care nu ești plătit financiar ci, din contră, aici toate faptele tale sunt răsplătite- prin zâmbete și amintiri care îți rămân o viață.

Cu toții vrem să ne distrăm după o zi plină de activități care ne consumă energia. În organizațiile de voluntariat, distracția este nelipsită, deoarece tinerii au nevoie de un moment în care să se destindă, să uite de anumite probleme și să se simtă bine alături de cei care au ajuns să le fie prieteni.

În plus, distracția nu este doar atunci când are loc o petrecere. Puteți să vă simțiți bine și când faceți anumite proiecte împreună, pentru că de fiecare dată există o persoană în grup care este pusă pe glume și care destinde atmosfera de lucru. Puteți să vă distrați și plecând în afară țării, pentru că sunt o mulțime de organizații care oferă ocazia de a fi voluntar în străinătate.

Și încă un avantaj : petrecerile și mini-vacanțele în grup pe timp de vară sunt tot ce ți-ai putea dori. Un grătar în natură, o petrecere într-o pădure, un week-end la cineva acasă reprezintă modalități de a te distra și a-ți creea amintiri frumoase.

5. Lucrezi în echipă

Voluntariatul presupune lucrul cu oameni. Pe unii îi întâlnești în momentul în care devii voluntar, pe alții îi știai deja dinainte, din diferite contexte. Atunci când se conturează o idee a unui nou proiect, formarea unei echipe de lucru este primul pas. Fiecare membru are sarcinile bine stabilite, pe care le respectă și împreună cu restul echipei duc la bun sfârșit proiectul.

În prezent, în multi-naționale, se pune foarte mult accent pe lucrul în echipă. Cu această ocazie, ai șansa să te dezvolți personal, deoarece ai de îndeplinit anumite sarcini și trebuie să te organizezi în așa fel încât să respecți termenul limită. Ești mereu atent la etapele pe care trebuie să le parcurgi și la colegii tăi. Atunci când ai colegi pe care te poți baza și care îți vin în ajutor cu o idee sau un sfat, poți spune că te afli într-o echipă !

6. Întâlnești oameni noi

Să fii voluntar înseamnă să ai abilități de comunicare foarte bune, să fii prietenos și tot timpul pregătit să cunoști persoane noi. E important să fii deschis către orice idee și orice tip de gândire, să interacționezi și să încerci să înveți de la fiecare om câte ceva.

Când ești voluntar, intri într-un mediu multicultural unde își poți îmbogăți cultura generală, descoperind tradiții și obiceiuri diferite de cele natale.

Un alt avantaj al voluntariatului în ceea ce privește oamenii pe care îi cunoști, este acela că ai șansa de a forma o prietenie de durată cu unii dintre ei, prietenie care trece de granițe și care rezistă la mii de  km distanță.

7. Câștigi experiență

Când vine vorba despre acumularea de experiență, voluntariatul este un reper important pentru tinerii care doresc să își formeze o bază de cunostiinte. Programele de voluntariat pun la dispoziție celor interesați o gamă variată de opțiuni. De la a vorbi în public, a fi un bun negociator și până la a cunoaște mai multe domenii de pe piața muncii, voluntariatul vine în sprijinul celor la început de drum profesional. În prezent, voluntariatul este considerat drept experiență de lucru, astfel că cei care aleg să fie voluntari, își pot găsi mai ușor de lucru apoi.

Voluntariatul este un sprijin important pentru sistemul educațional. De multe ori, activitățile propuse prin diverse proiecte, contribuie mai mult la dezvoltarea adolescenților decât unele metode școlare folosite în învățământ.

8. Îți creezi amintiri

« Îți mai aduci aminte când.. » Așa încep multe povești frumoase trăite de noi la un moment dat. Voluntariatul îți oferă mediul potrivit în care îți poți crea amintiri. Fie că lucrați la un proiect și cineva face o glumă sau un anume gest ca să vă amuze, fie că mergeți la o petrecere și vă distrați copios, toate aceste momente se transformă peste ceva timp în amintiri frumoase, care vor fi o parte a voluntariatului toată viața.

În plus, voluntariatul te provoacă din multe puncte de vedere, ajungând în situația în care îți înfrunți anumite temeri. Tocmai aceste momente, când ieși din zona de confort, își lasă amprenta asupra vieții tale și îți oferă momente de neuitat. Ești pus în situația de a vorbi pentru prima dată în public, de a propune o idee de proiect, sau de a conduce o echipă. Toate aceste activități, prin prisma faptului că par dificile și crezi că nu o să le duci la bun sfârșit, îți rămân întipărite în minte, pentru că au reprezentat etape importante în activitatea ta de voluntar și în dezvoltarea ta personală.

Avantajele voluntariatului sunt multe, însă zâmbetul sincer pe care  primești, amintirile create, fericirea din ochii unor copii pe care i ai ajutat reprezintă modalități  prin care voluntarii sunt plătiți de fiecare  când întreprind  o activitate.

The academic year has just started and for some it might a time of a fresh start, maybe it is also a time to consider an idea of becoming a volunteer? In this post you will find 8 advantages of the volunteering that hopefully will help you to make a right decision and become more active.

1. Share a passion

You know how to play a piano, dance, take photos or do some sports? Why not take advantage of this and pass it on to the others? Sharing something that you know well and enjoy doing will be a please for you as well as for the others. This way thanks to you someone might discover their passion or even life path. Even just talking about it can be inspirational and life changing for someone. Make your passion contagious!

2. Help the others

Look around you, in the community that you live in and you might notice that someone needs help and you could make their life easier and happier. As a volunteer you should be responsible and be ready to share your time with the other people. It does not always have to mean something big, sometimes listening to someone’s story or giving a hand. Helping others is beneficial not only for those in need but also for you. You got to know new people, learn new skills, it boosts your self-confidence, self-respect and gives you happiness. You can start with small gestures like carrying the groceries for an elder neighbor, going for a walk with dogs from local shelter or applying for volunteering at local community center. Audrey Hepburn once said: “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands – one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.” Keep that in mind.

3. Make a change

We all have defects and there are moments when we realize that we cannot control ourselves. Being a volunteer you can discover yourself, your hidden abilities and you learn how to be a better person. Also, working with people makes you able to read a character from the first sight, because you encounter many different personalities. You have a chance to work with people, kids and seniors, whom you will help at some point of yours and theirs life. Either, with the organization you are a member of you might collect school supplies and clothes for children in need, either you can visit old foster care for giving them a hand with duties and a good thoughts, you are making a change in the life of the people you are helping and in the same time, a change in your conscience and way of seeing the things.

One of the biggest changes made through the volunteering is on you. Doing some different activities, where the tasks that you have to accomply are multiples, you find yourself in the situation in which you discover abilities that you were not aware of. Also, you have the chance to develop yourself, both personal and professional so when you will have a job, you will see that the time spent like a volunteer prepared you in a certain way for your career.

4. Have fun

Maybe the thing that most of the people don’t know is the fact that the volunteering is not a worship where you are not paid financially but the context where all your actions are rewarded- by smiles and memories for a life-time.

We all want to have fun after a day full of activities that consume our energy. In volunteer organizations, the fun is mandatory because the young need some moments to relax, to forget about some problems and have a good time next to the ones that become their friends.

Therefore, fun does not always mean having a big party. You can have fun also when you are working on a project, there is always at least one person in a group who says jokes and changes the heavy atmosphere. You can also have fun while being a volunteer abroad, because there are a lot of organizations who offer this opportunity. Another advantage: parties and mini-holidays in group during summer are all you can wish for. A barbeque on the countryside, a party in the forest, a weekend at someone’s place are ways to have fun and create beautiful memories with friends.

5. Work in a team

Volunteering requires working with people, some of them you meet for the first time when you become a member of an organization, others you already knew. When a new project it’s starting, creating a team is one of the most important steps. Each member has his tasks and together with the rest of the team they are finishing the project with good results.

Now in companies the accent is put on teamwork. When being in a team, you have a chance to develop yourself because you have to do some tasks and you have to respect the deadline. You should always be careful about steps that you take and how you work with colleagues. When you have team-mates on which you can count and who are coming up with ideas or advices for you, you can truly say that you are a part of a great team!

6. Meet new people

Being a volunteer requires having very good speaking abilities, being friendly and all the time ready to meet new people. It’s important to be open-minded to any kind of personality, to interact and to try to learn something from every person you meet. When you join an organization, you become part of a multi-cultural environment, where you have the chance to enrich your general knowledge, discover different traditions and customs.

Another advantage of being a volunteer is that you can meet some people who will be your friends for a life-time. You can form a friendship that will cross the borders and will resist, besides the distance of thousands of kilometers.

7. Gain experience

When it comes to gaining experience, volunteering is a landmark for the youngsters that want to form a knowledge base. Volunteering programs offer a chance to everyone who is interested to have access to a diverse range of skills. From public speaking, being a good negotiator, to knowing many domains of the labor market, the volunteering comes to help the ones that are in the beginning of their professional career. Nowadays volunteering is considered as a work experience, therefore the ones that are choosing this path, can most probably more easily find a job later.

Volunteering is also an important support for the educational system. Often, the activities proposed through different projects are helping more the educational development of the teenagers than some traditional schooling methods.

8. Create memories

“Do you remember when…?” – This is the beginning of a lot of beautiful stories about events from the past. Volunteering give perfect opportunities in which you can create memories. Whether you are working on a project and you enjoy working together with your colleagues, or you are going to a party together and you have a blast, all these moments after some time will be amazing memories that will remind you your experience as a volunteer.

Also volunteering forces you in many ways to find yourself in situations in which you have to confront with your personal fears. Just these moments, when you are going out of your comfort zone, are the ones who offer you unforgettable memories. You find yourself in the situation of speaking in public for the first time, coming up with an idea for a project or to lead a team – all of these activities, because of the fact that they seem difficult and impossible to manage at first, are the ones which you will remember for many ears.

This obviously is not a complete list of advantages of volunteering, because there are many more. The honest smile that you receive, the memories created, the happiness from the eyes of children who you helped are some of the ways in which the volunteers are paid every time when they are doing an activity.
