For 2.5 months ago, I was not aware of these types of volunteering projects. On the occasion of a friend, I had learned what are these projects and why should I apply for them. After that, without waiting a second, I had applied for this project. To explain why I become a volunteer, at first I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to explore a new country. To know a country means, to develop my personality and a flawless chance to know the different cultures for me. Except from that, I was always interested in social responsibility projects but I was never able to find a way to attend one. Hereby, to add things to people as much as it is possible and to share somethings internationally, I had applied to this programme.

Hello, I’m Damla Keleş. Until a month ago, I was a university student living in Antalya. I am currently volunteer in the Seeds of Solidarity project in Craiova. Why I Chose To Be Volunteer? From the first moment I started to know myself, I was aware that I was interested in different cultures and loved meeting new people. I have always tried to be in a multicultural environment. I saw volunteering projects as one of the best areas where I could get to know and develop myself. The thing that attracted me the most about international volunteering projects was that they took place in multi-cultural environments and at the same time I was able to improve myself. I am about to complete the first month of my project and I am happy that I chose to be volunteer.

There are many reasons behind my choice of being a volunteer. . Actually, at first, I  was eager to be a volunteer because ı believed that volunteers are people who just travel and see different cultures yet ı found out the truth. Volunteers are people who help the helpless, they are the cornerstones of humanity. Volunteers are heroes. It does not matter for them where they volunteer, their goal is to make the World somewhere more equal, more peaceful and much better. That is why ı am volunteering, ı have the same goals, ı want my World to be a better place and ı am helping the World through volunteering.

I’m Sadik Berat Baydu. I am currently a volunteer in Craiova,Romania. I realized that being a volunteer has many benefits and contributes to personal development. Volunteering allowed me to make new friends, learn a new culture, and feel belonging to a community. I am currently volunteering in a kindergarten. Thanks to volunteering, I had this experience that I have never thought of. I was thinking of participating in a volunteering program during my university years and I am very happy to realize that plan. Spending time under the roof of love, respect and solidarity helps my personal development. I completed my first month in Seeds Of Solidarity project. I’m so thankful to Tinerii3D&LIDOSK association to give me that chance.

As Audrey Hepburn said; “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands — one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”. That quote can be the summary of Volunteering for me. As I grew up I noticed the Inequalities among people. And wanted to do something about it. That is the main reason but of course there are many other things that made me eager for volunteering. Such as helping others, learning new cultures, exploring new places and meeting new people. I love the way that I feel when I help somebody, learn new things and improve myself. And volunteering is the point of intersection of all these topics. While volunteering ı touch people’s heart, sometimes I do not even know their names. Usually I used to work with youngsters but nowadays, I work with children and that made me look to the society in a way broader perspective. And I think that’s the beauty of volunteering, a volunteer can experience every kind of people from any ages and any social backgrounds, experience many behaviors and these conditions makes a volunteer more open-minded, socially experienced and to be able to act mature in any case of emergencies or special needs. What ı wanted to say is volunteering is more than its lexical meaning. It is a way to grow up. long story short; Although mentally growing up is a lifelong process, volunteering can accelerate the process.
