My first days in Craiova – Zümrüt Mazlum

Hi! My name is Zümrüt Mazlum. I am 23 years old and currently, I am in Craiova, Romania for a 2-month volunteering project. First of all, I was very excited to come to Craiova. I was so glad to know I was accepted for the project and I immediately started to research for Craiova. From what I’ve seen on the internet, the buildings, structures, streets, parks in the photos looked very beautiful. Finally, I got on the plane and landed in Bucharest. My first impressions when I got off the plane were very positive. People were very friendly and helpful. We took the bus to go from the airport to the Gara de Nord and from there we took the train to go to Craiova. The train took 3 hours and we met a lot of people on the train. It was then that I realized that the Romanian people were very warm-blooded and sincere people. We talked with a professor at Craiova University. He gave us a lot of information about Craiova and Romania. And, we met a girl named Stefania, a university student at our age, who was sitting next to us. She told us where to go in Craiova. We had a friend before we came to the city where the project was going to take place. This is a very good thing. Then we arrived at Craiova and our coordinator Adrian greeted us at the train station. Adrian was also a very nice guy. Everything was going so well, and then we learned something that made us upset.  We were supposed to be in quarantine for 10 days.  There were a lot of places to see in Craiova but we had to be home for 10 days. It was sad but there was nothing we could do and we spent 10 days at home. As soon as our 10 days were over, we immediately started touring Craiova, during which we met our other volunteer friends and mentor here, Andi. Everyone gave us a well welcome. We didn’t feel like any strangers. I’m already very sorry that the project will be finished and that I will leave. There are many beautiful places to see in Craiova. Streets, structures, buildings, and parks. The grand building in the center is very sumptuous. There’s a beautiful botanical park near our house. My favorite was Nicolae Romanescu Park. It’s a very big and beautiful park.  

Craiova’da ki ilk günlerim

Selam! Ben Zümrüt Mazlum. 23 yaşındayım ve şu anda 2 aylık bir gönüllülük projesi için Romanya’nın Craiova şehrindeyim. Öncelikle Craiova’ya geleceğim için çok heyecanlıydım. Projeye kabul edildiğim zaman çok sevindim ve hemen Craiova hakkında araştırma yapmaya başladım. İnternette gördüğüm kadarıyla fotoğraflardaki binalar, yapılar, sokaklar, parklar çok güzel görünüyordu. Sonunda uçağa bindim ve Bükreş’e indim. Uçaktan indiğimde ilk izlenimlerim çok olumluydu. İnsanlar çok cana yakın ve yardımseverdi. Havalimanından Gara de Nord’a gitmek için otobüse bindik ve oradan da Craiova’ya gitmek için trene bindik. Tren 3 saat sürdü ve trende bir sürü insanla tanıştık. O zaman Romanya insanının çok sıcakkanlı ve samimi olduğunu anladım. Craiova Üniversitesi’nde çalışan bir profesörle tanıştık. Bize Craiova ve Romanya hakkında birçok bilgi verdi. Ve sonra yanımızda oturan, bizim yaşlarımızda ve üniversite öğrencisi olan Stefania adında bir kızla tanıştık. Bize Craiova da gidebileceğimiz yerlerden bahsetti. Daha projenin yapılacağı şehre gelmeden bir sürü arkadaş edinmiştik.   Sonra Craiova’ya geldik ve koordinatörümüz Adrian bizi tren istasyonunda karşıladı. Adrian da aynı zamanda çok güler yüzlü birisiydi. Her şey çok iyi gidiyordu ki sonra bizi üzen bir şey öğrendik. 10 gün karantinada kalmamız gerekiyordu. Craiova da görülecek çok yer vardı ama 10 gün evde olmamız gerekiyordu. Üzücüydü ama yapabileceğimiz hiçbir şey yoktu ve evde 10 gün geçirdik. 10 günümüz biter bitmez hemen Craiova’yı gezmeye başladık ve burada ki diğer gönüllü arkadaşlarımız ve mentörümüz Andi ile tanıştık. Herkes bizi çok iyi karşıladı. Hiç yabancılık hissetmedik. Proje biteceği ve gideceğim için şimdiden çok üzgünüm. Craiova da görülecek çok güzel yerler var. Sokaklar, yapılar, binalar ve parklar. Merkezdeki büyük bina çok görkemli. Evimizin yakınında güzel bir botanik parkı var. Benim favorim Nicolae Romanescu Parkı’ydı. Çok büyük ve güzel bir park.
