Facultățile din Craiova din perspectiva studenților

Săptămâna trecută a fost una importantă pentru tinerii absolvenți ai Universității din Craiova. Aceștia și-au susținut lucrarea de licență și au încheiat un alt capitol din viața lor. Pentru unii dintre ei, timpul de studiu nu s-a terminat deoarece aceștia și-au propus să urmeze un master, fie în Craiova, fie în alte orașe din țară.

În plus, în această perioadă, abosolventii de liceu sunt așteptați de către Universitatea din Craiova să se înscrie la una dintre multele specializări oferite de aceasta. Cu această ocazie, am vorbit cu mai mulți alumni despre timpul petrecut în facultate și despre impresia generală pe care aceștia o au la sfârșit  de ciclu universitar. “Cei trei ani de facultate pe care i-am parcurs în cadrul Facultății de Litere a Universității din Craiova au reprezentat o perioadă în care am asimilat noi cunoștințe, dar și una în care mi le-am completat pe cele existente” a spus Alin, 22 absolvent al Facultății de Litere.

 Impresii generale după terminarea primului ciclu de studii universitare

Oana, absolventă a Facultății de Litere, Specializare și Comunicare şi Relaţii Publice ne-a împărtășit gândurile sale la finalul studiilor de licență “Am început facultatea cu așteptările pe care orice proaspăt absolvent de liceu le are. Când mă gândeam la facultate, aveam în minte un loc în care modul de predare este diferit, în care se pune accent pe partea practică, pentru că alesesem un domeniu dinamic și în continuă schimbare. Însă, din modul de predare al profesorilor care predau structura liniară axată pe aspect teoretice la fel ca cea din timpul liceului, am înțeles că nu o să avem parte de prea multă practica”.

Alexandra, 25, care doar ce și-a încheiat studiile în cadrul Facultății de Medicină și Farmacie din Craiova ne-a mărturisit că așteptările i-au fost îndeplinite în cea mai mare parte “Nu pot să spun că a fost ușor, dar a fost frumos. Profesorii chiar și-au dat interesul să ne arate o mulțime de lucruri, să ne pregătească foarte bine pentru viitorul nostru că tineri medici”.

 Lucruri de îmbunătățit în domeniul educațional din Craiova

Vorbind despre ce ar schimba în cadrul facultăților din Craiova, dacă ar avea ocazia, părerile tinerilor au fost asemănătoare “Un lucru important care lipsește în cadrul Universității din Craiova este partea practică. Mi-aș fi dorit ca în timpul celor 3 ani de facultate profesorii să ne îndrume mai mult spre punerea în aplicare a cunoștințelor acumulate în timpul orelor de curs”, ne-a spus Iulia, 22, absolventă a Facultății de Litere din Craiova.

Trecând de la facultatea de Litere la cea de Automatică, putem observa că părerile sunt diferite, în funcție de tematica celor două domenii “Logistica și condițiile nu sunt potrivite, ducem lipsă de băi salubre, de echipamente pentru laboratoare. Suntem nevoiți să venim la facultate cu propriile laptopuri, ceea ce nu mi se pare normal” ne-a spus Andra, 23, absolventă a facultății de Automatică din Craiova.

O altă părere ne este împărtășită de către Oana, absolventă al Facultății de Litere, Specializarea Comunicare și Relații publice“Din punct de vedere al relației profesori-studenți consider că este important să știi cum să îți ții studenții interesați de materia predată, cum să le stimulezi mintea și cum să îi încurajezi să vină cu idei. Un sfat pe care l-am primit de la toți profesorii mei și care mi-aș dori să fie dat și de ceilalți profesori din Universitate este acela de a face voluntariat. Ne-au încurajat încă de la început să ne implicăm în cât mai multe activități extra-curriculare, să profităm de bursele Erasmus și să încercam prin asta să ne deschidem perspectivele.”

Următorul pas după absolvire

Proaspeții absolvenți trebuie să se confrunte acum cu noi provocări și să decidă dacă  vor continua studiile pe un program de Master sau vor lucra într-un anumit domeniu “Motivele pentru care am ales să rămân să urmez masterul în Craiova sunt în totalitate de ordin personal, însă la fel cum am început facultatea cu așteptări, așa o să fiu și de data asta. Cu toate acestea, am ales să schimb facultatea și să aprofundez mai mult domeniul marketingului, despre care am înțeles încă de când am intrat pentru prima dată în contact cu el că are multe de oferit pe piața muncii.”

Alexandra, absolventă a Facultății de Medicină și Farmacie ne-a împărtășit planurile ei de viitor “Imi doresc foarte mult să lucrez în cadrul IGSU la Smurd. E vorba despre adrenalină, despre reacțiile pe moment. Trebuie să știi foarte bine ce să faci și când să faci. Asta mă definește și acolo mă văd pe viitor.”

O altă opțiune pentru viitor ne-a fost prezentată de Andra “Firmele de IT din Craiova ne oferă tot felul de posibilități, am învățat acolo în 3 săptămâni cât nu am învățat într-un semestru. Deja lucrez în domeniu și vreau să rămân aici măcar doi ani.”

Nu există un răspuns general perfect atunci când vine vorba despre planurile de viitor deoarece fiecare dintre noi gândește diferit. Părerile în ceea ce privește sistemul educațional din Craiova sunt împărțite și fiecare dintre noi este responsabil pentru deciziile pe care le ia și pentru calea pe care o urmează în viață.

The faculties of Craiova from the student’s perspective

The previous week was crucial for the young graduates of the University of Craiova. They presented their thesis and closed another chapter of their lives. For some of them, the time of studies is not over yet because they decided to get a Master’s degree either in Craiova or in some other city in Romania or abroad.

Moreover, in this period the freshly-graduated from the high school are applying for the courses that universities are offering this year. On this occasion we spoke with some alumni about their time at the University and about the general impression that they have at the end of their university cycle. “The 3 years that I’ve spent in the Faculty of Letters from the University of Craiova for me were a period in which I gained a lot of new information, but also broadened and cleared the knowledge that I have already possessed”, said Alin, 22, from the Faculty of Letters.

General impressions after the ending of the first cycle of university studies

Oana, who graduated of the Faculty of Letters, Specialization of Communication and Public Relations, shared with us her thoughts at the end of the studies: “I started the Faculty with the expectations which every freshly graduated person from high school would have. When I was thinking about college, I was imagining it as a place where the way of teaching is different from high school, where practical part of learning process is underlined especially because I had chosen a dynamic and continually changing field. But from the way of teaching of the teachers who followed the linear structure based on theoretic aspects like the one from high school, I understood that we will not have so much chance to gain a lot of practical information about the profession”.

Alexandra, 25, who has just finished the studies at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova, said that her expectations about university and studies were fulfilled: “I can’t say that it was easy time, but it was challenging and enriching. The teachers really made their best to teach us a lot of things, to prepare us very well for our profession of young doctors”.

Things to improve in the educational domain of Craiova

When asked what they would change at university if they had a chance, the opinions of the students were similar to one another: “An important thing that is missing at the University of Craiova is the practical part. I would prefer the teachers would guide us more to the implementation of the knowledge assimilated during the classes”, said Iulia, 22, graduated of the Faculty of Letters from Craiova.

Moving from the faculty of Letters to the one of the Automatics, we can see that the opinions differ due to diverse specifics of the provided courses. “The logistic and conditions are not adequate; we don’t have salubre baths and equipment for the laboratories. We have to bring our own laptops to the classes and I don’t think it’s satisfactory”, said Andra, 23, who graduated from the faculty if Automatics from Craiova.

Another impression was presented by Oana: “From the point of view of the relation between teachers and students I think that is important to know how to keep the students interested in a taught subject, how to stimulate their minds and how to encourage them to come up with ideas. An advice that I have received from my teachers, and which I wish to be given also by the other lecturers, was to be a volunteer. They encouraged us since the beginning to involve in as many additional activities as possible, to apply for Erasmus scholarship and to try to broaden our perspectives”.

The next step after graduation

The freshly graduated students have to confront new challenges and decide whether they will continue the studies at Master degree or they will work in a certain domain. “The reasons why I decided to stay in Craiova for the Masters are mainly personal but in the same way I started the studies with some expectations, so it will be also this time. I decided to change the faculty and to study more the field of marketing about which I have been interested since I first touched on this subject and realized ther are a lot of opportunities in this field on the labor market.

Alexandra, who graduated of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, said: “I would like very much to take up a work at IGSU at Smurd. It’s because of the adrenaline that this work brings. You have to know very well what you have to do and when. This is what defines me and there I see myself in the future”.

Another option for the future was presented by Andra: “The companies in IT field from Craiova offer all sort of possibilities. During 3 weeks of work there, I have learned much more than I had learned during the whole semester of classes. I already work in my profession and I want to stay there at least for 2 years more”.

There is no perfect general answer when it comes to future plans because each of us thinks different. The opinions regarding the educational system of Craiova are divided and each of us is responsible for the decisions that take and for the path that we follow in life.
